Siegfried Westphal ,was a soldier of extreme distinction, later become
a Lieutenant General, and Chief of staff first to Kesselring in Italy and,
in 1944 to Von Rundstedt as Commander-in Chief West. In the coming Winter
battle he would exercise a critically important initiative " (Ronald Lewin
, The Life and Death of the Afrika Korps. Gorgei books 1979.p.87).
( I am a soldier and I still remember with respect, when my friends and I met General Siegfried Westphal , at the Benghazi Military Academy Libya in 1974. We listened to his lecture about the Desert Fox and his memory about the war in the desert.
